How to Do a THC Detox & Cleanse Your System

Detoxing from THC is beneficial and sometimes even necessary for various reasons, but the process itself is confusing for most people. How do you even figure out where to start your THC detox with so much information out there? We want to make the stressful process of detoxing as easy as possible, so we’ve broken down the fundamentals of detoxing from cannabis to alleviate the confusion.

Challenges Detoxing THC

Unfortunately, no set detox formula applies to everyone. The timeline and success of your detox are dependent on several personal factors, such as your BMI and your toxin level. Your BMI relates to your metabolism, which controls how quickly you break things down and get rid of toxins. Naturally, if you’re pretty physically fit, you’ll be able to detox from THC faster than someone who is less so.

Having a low toxin level is another factor that will make you detox more quickly than someone without that advantage. Toxin levels are determined by the concentration, the amount, and how often you consume THC products.

The average range of time to entirely flush cannabis from one’s system is about a month to three months; consider the factors we described to determine approximately where you would fall within that range. For example, if you have a low BMI and only smoke occasionally, you may be clean of cannabis in four weeks. On the contrary, if you have a high BMI and smoke dabs daily, it may take you a full twelve weeks to completely THC from your system.

How to Detox THC

It’s difficult to know where to start when you want to detox from THC, but we’ve laid out the most important things to do for a successful detox.

Stop Consumption

If you want to detox from THC, you need to stop consuming it immediately. There is simply no way to fully detox from any substance while you’re still consuming it. We know it can be unpleasant and challenging to stop consuming cannabis, especially if you’re used to consuming it on a daily basis; but we assume that, since you’re here, your THC detox is important to you. That makes stopping THC consumption a necessity.

Liquids

It’s crucial to drink lots of fluids during your detox for several reasons. First of all, you need to stay hydrated. One of the most common withdrawal symptoms is dehydration, which makes all other symptoms like low energy and irritability even worse. Your body uses up extra hydration and electrolytes for detox efforts, so it’s important to stay up on replenishing what’s lost. Second, your pee is an important route for toxins to exit your body. The more you pee to flush toxins from your system, the quicker you’ll detox!

Sweat

Your sweat glands and pores are another exit route for toxins. Some of the best ways to increase your sweating for your detox include exercise and sitting in a sauna. Both of these activities aid your detox in more ways than just sweat.

Exercise is excellent for boosting your metabolism to break down and get rid of toxins faster. Saunas, interestingly, trick your body into believing you have a fever, so your body will react as if it’s fighting off a virus and work even harder to detox.

Clean Eating

Clean eating is so important when you’re going through a detox. Foods like fatty meats and dairy products can slow your detox process by inhibiting digestion and causing your existing toxins to build up. Even worse than meat and dairy, processed foods with chemicals or sugar will actually increase your toxin level.

Opt for a diet of primarily fruits and vegetables that contain a lot of water, mixed with some yummy herbs and spices. For drinks, avoid alcohol and caffeine; stick to water, tea, and other sugar-free beverages loaded with electrolytes.

Sleep

Your body works hard when you’re going through a detox, but you can support it by getting lots of rest. With your body working so hard, you’re likely to feel extra tired when you’re detoxing, and you shouldn’t try to fight it.

Listen to your body and give it the rest that it needs. Just like when you’re sick, rest is the best way to help your body. Plus, getting enough sleep is a great way to lessen some of the worst detox symptoms.

Detox Programs

Depending on the amount of time you have to completely cleanse from THC, you may not be able to simply let your body run its natural detox course. If you have to take a drug test any sooner than one month from now, it is out of the question. Depending on your toxin level, BMI, and other relevant factors, it could take as long as three months to get to a point where you can confidently take a drug test. So, if your deadline is too tight for a natural detox, you’ll want to use a detox program or kit, or a detox drink. With these programs, you have the option to get clean in ten days, five days, or even be able to pass your drug test in one day if need be.

Concluding Thoughts

You need to think about many aspects of your life when going through a detox. You may need to change your diet for a little while and make an extra time slot in your day for exercising. But, simply knowing what you’re up against is most of the battle. As long as you consider all the necessary factors and plan accordingly, you’ll be gearing up for a successful THC detox!

Detoxing from THC is beneficial and sometimes even necessary for various reasons, but the process itself is confusing for most people. How do you even figure out where to start your THC detox with so much information out there? We want to make the stressful process of detoxing as easy as possible, so we’ve broken down the fundamentals of detoxing from cannabis and in a way that we hope will alleviate the confusion.
