Question 1

What’s the biggest challenge facing the cannabis industry right now, and how are you and/or your company addressing it?

The biggest challenge in my area is the void in cannabis media, where legacy-to-legal stories of minority business owners remain underrepresented despite their pioneering contributions to the culture and the industry. Because of this, I focus much of my work on black, brown, and women-owned businesses while being a vocal supporter for change, diversity, and inclusion in this white-male dominated industry. Through my mission to educate, inform, and destigmatize, I’m helping prove that cannabis is “way more than just a high” by highlighting the stories of minority-owned businesses creating innovative solutions despite systemic barriers. For six years, I traveled non-stop across the U.S and Caribbean, using my pen and laptop to bring to light the hidden gems in cannabis, with particular focus on minority-owned businesses and legacy-to-legal operators. I only work with publications that respect and encourage my pen’s dedication to minority business owners, vowing to publish these stories without editing through their non-minority lens.

Question 2

Where do you see the most exciting opportunity for growth and innovation in cannabis?

The most exciting opportunity for growth and innovation in my area in cannabis lies in elevating minority voices and businesses that offer unique perspectives and solutions based on deep cultural connections to the plant. As someone constantly traveling to new destinations, making new connections, and exploring everything from farms to dispensaries to technology companies, I see tremendous potential in businesses that authentically represent and serve their communities. There’s particular promise in storytelling that centers Black experiences and minority business narratives that have been systematically excluded from mainstream cannabis media. I’m also excited about the innovations that combine cannabis with other aspects of living, like: travel, wellness, and fashion.

Question 3

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to break into the cannabis industry?

Remember that cannabis is medicine; it’s more than just a high. Let this depth of understanding guide your approach to the industry.

Question 4

What is the most important thing you have learned from your experiences in the cannabis industry?

The most important lesson I’ve learned is that authentic storytelling has tremendous power to change perceptions, challenge stigmas, and create pathways for equity in this rapidly evolving industry. We need more diverse voices telling these stories, which is why I’m building a writers network to amplify minority perspectives and create more pathways for representation.

Question 5

What do you want your legacy to be as it relates to the cannabis industry?

I want to be remembered as the storyteller who helped create an unshakeable foundation for minority representation in cannabis media, and someone who never compromised on showcasing the brilliance, innovation, and resilience of communities targeted by prohibition. I hope future generations see my work as a catalyst that helped transform the industry’s understanding of equity, creating space for businesses rooted in culture and community rather than just profit. My greatest achievement would be inspiring a new wave of minority writers, photographers, and media professionals who continue documenting our stories with authenticity and power.
