Cannabis Industry Unites to Highlight Prisoners’ Stories and Champion Freedom for Incarcerated Cannabis Offenders

Cannabis Prisoners Cannabis Industry

The cannabis industry is shining a much-needed spotlight on the forgotten stories of individuals incarcerated for cannabis-related offenses through a powerful collaboration aimed at amplifying their voices and supporting their path to freedom. A stellar group of organizations, businesses, and individuals have come together to build a Prisoners Edition, which will feature the stories of current and formerly incarcerated cannabis prisoners, as well as profiles of those who, after serving time, have gone on to build successful brands within the cannabis industry.

Leading this effort is the invaluable partnership with Freedom Grow, Jailed for Weed, Beard Bros Pharms, and Fat Nugs Magazine, four organizations that are making a profound difference in the lives of cannabis prisoners in ways that no other entities have. Through their efforts, they are working to raise awareness, provide crucial resources, and offer support to those who have suffered unjustly because of cannabis prohibition.

A Vision for Justice and Support

Freedom Grow has long been a guiding light for those incarcerated for cannabis offenses, providing critical support in ways that go above and beyond traditional approaches. As a nonprofit organization, Freedom Grow provides commissary funds to purchase essential items, books, magazines, newsletters, and re-entry support to cannabis prisoners.

They also provide the incarcerated individuals with a way to stay connected to their families through heartfelt gift-giving. Every year, Freedom Grow hosts an annual holiday drive for the children of the cannabis prisoners. They advocate for the release of their constituents through letter-writing campaigns, clemency support and public education. Freedom Grow works with a community network of allies who are dedicated to ending the war on drugs and achieving justice for those impacted by unjust cannabis laws.

FG’s Commissary Connects Program, gives retailers across the nation the opportunity to participate in the ’Round-up” campaign to help make a tangible difference by contributing to the cause. Rounding up their purchases to the nearest dollar to fund important initiatives for cannabis prisoners. The Commissary Connects program also offers brands, testing facilities, packaging companies, smoke shops, and hemp companies a meaningful way to give back and support cannabis prisoners. Meanwhile, Jailed for Weed offers an innovative platform that directly connects people to cannabis prisoners and offers ways to provide real and ongoing support. Their efforts are deeply personal and committed, focusing not only on awareness but on organizing campaigns for the release of prisoners and offering vital resources for reintegration after release.
