Wellness and weed have always shared one main rule: Know Your Source. A newly announced collaboration between Davis Farms, United Cultivation, and Beard Bros Pharms will deliver craft-quality, single source, cannabis-derived wellness products to select store shelves by the end of 2025. This unrivaled level of quality control and assurance–from seed to sale–is as close as Massachusetts cannabis customers can get to a “farm to table” experience, for now.

The Massachusetts cannabis scene is already abuzz about what Beard Bros Pharms has brought to the market by way of a successful partnership with United Cultivation, established local license holders and highly popular producers in their own right.

The wellness focused product line that Beard Bros Pharms has curated taps into the deeply rooted therapeutic potential of the plant and it has retail customers across the Commonwealth asking all the right questions as they look to learn more.

In May 2025, United Cultivation received a large batch of seeds from Oregon-based Davis Farms. The Type 3 genetics exchanged were a mix of Davis Farms’ Admiral’s Kush and their Monarch OG, all feminized with exceedingly high germination rates.

These genetics were chosen for their proven hardiness in an east coast sungrown setting, as well as for their incredibly diverse harmony of essential compounds, providing a spectrum that digs far deeper than simple CBD:THC ratios.

The crew at United Cultivation got these beans in the ground this spring, allowing a full field to go full term under the Massachusetts sunshine with a goal of harvesting a whole lot of cannabinoids, terpenes, and more come Croptober.

This entire harvest will be dedicated to the production of truly single-source, direct-to-consumer wellness products in the form of RSO, tinctures, and more, all crafted by United Cultivation using the proven formulas and SOPs that have led to decades of earned trust and market success for Beard Bros Pharms.

“As longtime advocates for the plant, as well as willing ambassadors between cannabis culture and commerce, and now as the trusted voice in the media space, my brother and I have always said that every new multimillion-dollar marketplace starts with a seed,” says Jeff Levers, co-founder of Beard Bros Pharms. “This saying is an homage to the breeders and the farmers without whom there would be no cannabis culture or commerce.”

That gets us to the root of this collaborative effort between the Bros, their buds at United Cultivation, and the passionate team over at Davis Farms, so let’s learn a bit more about the breeders, the farmers, and why it all matters.

Wellness Takes Flight With Type 3 Genetics from Davis Farms

With over a decade of experience of breeding and cultivating exotic and experimental CBD-dominant, terpene and cannabinoid-rich cultivars, Davis Farms Founder and CEO Jeremy Klettke has watched the global demand for legitimate Type 3 genetics skyrocket in recent years, but he has also seen the supply-side, all things considered, fail to meet it.

Klettke’s interest in cannabis, as well as the endogenous cannabinoid system found in every one of us, dates back even further, with over 30 years of cannabis cultivation and production experience that took him all over the world and fueled his fascination with the Entourage Effect.

When Klettke’s home state of Oregon established its adult-use cannabis market in 2016, the high barrier/cost of entry, compounded by 280E federal tax, and the introduction of METRC reinforced his decision to stick to studying hemp instead.

Far from just another hemp farm, however, Davis Farms has spent the past ten years working hemp-in-hand with some of the top research universities in the world including; Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, LSU, Texas A&M, and many more.

Why would these industry-leading institutions call upon Davis Farms for Type 3 genetics? The same reasons we did–compliance, performance, and spectrum.

Through this experience, Klettke deepened his interest in API-focused breeding which has led to the development of single plants expressing over forty unique cannabinoids, including many otherwise elusive minor cannabinoids.

Speaking on his work and his goals at Davis Farms, Klettke likes to jest that the industry may be able to force us to breed out THC, but that still leaves hundreds of untapped cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and countless cannabis-based compounds that can still be harvested whether you call it hemp, weed, or whatever.

“We are excited to see the results from this grow at UC. Products like these are highly effective and fill a void in the marketplace that needs to be addressed.,” says Klettke.

Recognizing the market demand for proven genetics, Davis Farms released its first seed catalog in 2018. Offering 13 distinct listings of Type 3 genetics, you may notice that each variety was inspired by a type of butterfly, a hint of the company’s sustainability ethos. You may also notice that the catalog has not changed since 2018 because, simply put, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Too many breeders are babying and coddling hemp genetics trying to emulate the indoor cannabis game with a one-size-fits-all mentality. At Davis Farms, their genetics have been rigorously field-tested by real farmers whose feedback helped Klettke and his team focus on a dozen different potential climate zones and over 20 different types of climates that their gear could be grown in. That helped them identify the ideal chemotype for any particular farmer’s unique growing conditions.

In Massachusetts, for example, United Cultivation will be dealing with natural variables like the potential for high winds, or excessive humidity or moisture. By consulting with Davis Farms, they agreed that the Admiral’s Kush and the Monarch OG are best-built to thrive in such an environment.

That’s where the farmer comes in.

From the Green Monster to the Emerald Triangle and Back Again

When it comes to those who produce cannabis and those who buy/consume it, the mutual benefit of vertical integration comes from the unbeatable level of quality control that a brand can have from seed to sale. United Cultivation takes full advantage of that benefit whenever possible, kicking out bestselling, consumer-favorite products that fly off of store menus due to their affordability, freshness, and quality.

This is the secret to the collaborative success that United Cultivation has had in their product partnership with Beard Bros Pharms. Always looking to raise the bar, around September of 2024 Beard Bros Pharms and the team at UC began a global search for a way to optimize the efficacy of their already award-winning wellness product line.

That quest led them to Jill Carreiro, VP of Business Development at Davis Farms, and now three powerhouse brands have come together to propagate wellness and a higher quality of life through hemp.

Dave Macklin, Director of Cultivation at United Cultivation, will oversee the outdoor crop, leaning on over two decades of cannabis farming experience to strike that perfect balance between beautiful buds and ideal yields.

A Massachusetts grower who spent the early 2000s dodging draconian weed laws, Dave’s passion for the plant eventually led him to the west coast and the infamous Emerald Triangle where he’d harvest thousands of cannabis plants in the hills of Trinity County before eventually making his way back east.

Twenty years of trials and tribulations, good crops and bad crops, wins and learning opportunities can stress a cannabis grower much like environmental conditions can stress a plant. But, in both cases the farmer and the plant come out stronger and Dave’s decades of resilience and know-how have already set United Cultivation apart, raising the bar for quality in the Massachusetts marketplace.

“We were instantly excited about Davis Farms genetics,” said Matt Besonen of United Cultivation. “Hemp is typically considered a less desirable product, but Davis Farms genetics have flipped the script…from bud structure to resilience to COA’s, Jeremy has knocked it out of the park. Using these amazing genetics to create Beard Bros RSO was a no-brainer, and we are excited to get this product into the hands of Massachusetts consumers!”

Klettke agrees, adding, “With this product line of RSO derived products United Cultivation and Beard Bros remind us that much of this industry was built upon the backs of people whose focus wasn’t just on getting people high or making a buck. The teams involved in this collaboration have been around the plant long enough to have seen RSO based products offered freely with compassion, and we have all seen the impact they have when it comes to wellness.”

Roughly four months from now this concept will come to harvest. Shortly after that, a new take on top tier Beard Bros Pharms wellness products will appear on select store menus where customers looking to optimize their quality of life will be just one step removed from shaking the farmer’s hand personally. It just feels right.
