Edible Brands, the parent company of the well-known Edible Arrangements, announced last week that they are going into the cannabis space with the launch of Edibles.com, an e-commerce platform for hemp-derived THC products. This entry into the hemp/cannabis industry is a significant shift for a company historically associated with fruit bouquets and chocolate-dipped treats. With hemp-derived regulations varying by state—and some states recently introducing legislation to outright ban Delta 8 products—things could get really interesting.
Edible Brands Steps Into the Hemp Market
The hemp industry has grown substantially since the federal legalization of hemp under the 2018 Farm Bill, which defined hemp as containing 0.3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) or less by dry weight. This legislation paved the way for the legal sale of hemp products across much of the United States, despite some state-level restrictions. Recognizing the potential within this $28 billion industry, Edible Brands is now positioning itself to be a key player in the market with Edibles.com.
The company has enlisted Thomas Winstanley as Executive Vice President to oversee Edibles.com, per a press release.
“Edible Brands’ wellness-driven approach aligns with the evolving future of this category. With our robust infrastructure and nationwide footprint, we are uniquely positioned to accelerate industry growth,” shared Winstanley. “Joining an organization that prioritizes consumers, advocacy, and innovation allows us to strengthen and shape this emerging market.”
What is Edibles.com?
The press release describes Edibles.com as a unique online marketplace that curates high-quality, hemp-derived THC products from leading brands. Products available on Edibles.com span a range of formats, including gummies, drinks, and supplements.
Jake Bullock, co-founder and CEO of Cann, whose products will be on Edibles.com, talked about the platform’s potential impact: “This is a defining moment for the hemp industry. A high-quality marketplace like Edibles.com has the power to reshape the future of THC products and drive the long-term industry growth we’ve all been working toward.”
Edibles.com launched on March 20, 2025, initially serving Texas, with plans to expand into other regulated markets such as Florida and Georgia. The site also plans to offer nationwide shipping for select hemp products where permitted by state law. However, recent legislation in Texas and Florida aims to ban Delta-8 and other cannabinoids, which, if passed, could impact business operations in these states.
Building on the infrastructure established by Edible Arrangements, Edibles.com leverages the company’s franchise network to offer expedited delivery services. These franchisees allow Edibles.com to provide same-day or next-day delivery to approximately 70% of U.S. households.
“The hemp industry is evolving rapidly, but consumers still face challenges with perception, education, and accessibility,” said Somia Farid Silber, CEO of Edible Brands. “We’re making it easier than ever for consumers to access premium, vetted products with the convenience they expect today.”
Additionally, Edible Brands plans to establish a flagship brick-and-mortar store in Atlanta’s Inman Park neighborhood. This physical location will act as a prototype for a limited franchising program, aiming to democratize access to an industry historically restricted by regulatory complexity.
Challenges in the Hemp Industry
Despite its potential, the hemp-derived THC market continues to face challenges. From a legal standpoint, state regulations around THC levels and product classifications vary widely and remain in flux. For example, Edibles.com has chosen not to serve California at launch due to the state’s stricter regulatory landscape. As previously mentioned, Florida and Texas have introduced similar measures, further highlighting the complexity of navigating these varying regulations.
Another challenge is consumer education. A large portion of the general public remains confused about the distinction between hemp and marijuana products, as well as the safety and efficiency of THC-related wellness solutions. To address these barriers, per the press release, Edibles.com includes extensive educational materials on its platform to inform and empower consumers.
Looking forward, Edibles.com plans to rapidly expand its reach in the U.S., entering additional states while exploring future partnerships and innovations within the hemp market. The press release highlights the company’s focus on wellness, premium products, and consumer trust, which could position it to make a significant impact.
The cannabis industry is expected to surpass $32 billion in annual retail sales by 2025, and new entrants like Edible Brands could be set up to shape its trajectory significantly. Only time will tell whether Edibles.com will fulfill its ambition of becoming a trusted name in the hemp-derived THC market.
