Grass Goddess of Tech: Dina Nagib Joins Some Guys Talking B2B Show to Share Cannabis Industry Insights

On a recent episode of Some Guys Talking, hosts Brian Holler and Aaron Washington welcomed Dina Nagib, founder of Grass Goddess Consulting, to discuss her journey in the cannabis industry and the vital role technology plays in the success of retail dispensaries.

The podcast, known for its engaging conversations with industry decision-makers, took a deep dive into Nagib’s five-year tenure in cannabis, a field where she has become a trusted advisor on software selection, data analytics, and operational efficiency.

Nagib’s consulting firm, Grass Goddess Consulting, focuses on helping dispensaries streamline their technology to maximize efficiency and profitability. “We start with software selection and implementation,” Neji explained. “Once that’s in place, we can analyze data and implement analytics to grow the business.”

The conversation touched on the common challenges faced by dispensary owners, including thin margins, lack of technical expertise, and the complexity of choosing the right software. Nagib emphasized the importance of making informed technology decisions, noting, “A lot of small dispensaries don’t have the resources to hire someone like me full-time, so I step in to provide that expertise and help them compete with larger operations.”

From Biology to Business Optimization

Nagib’s career trajectory is as unique as it is impressive. Growing up just north of Chicago, she developed a love for technology early, often solving computer issues in her high school classes. Though she initially pursued a pre-med track at UC San Diego, her career pivoted after an internship at a pharmaceutical company led to an 11-year tenure in a global role managing operations and software development.

“My job was essentially the dispensary for the pharmaceutical company,” Nagib shared, drawing a clear connection between her pharmaceutical work and her current role. Her experience developing software to manage global operations provided her with the skills needed to optimize cannabis retail operations today.

Bridging the Tech Gap in Cannabis

Nagib’s expertise is particularly critical in the cannabis industry, where many operators struggle to integrate and utilize technology effectively. She highlighted the importance of cleaning up “dirty data,” creating actionable dashboards, and educating dispensary owners on the long-term benefits of investing in the right systems.

Technology can actually help businesses scale more effectively and even save money in the long run,” Nagib said. “It’s about understanding the business as a whole and making technology work for you, not against you.”

A Trusted Guide for Growth

As the episode unfolded, it became clear that Nagib’s background in both pharmaceutical and cannabis industries has equipped her with a unique perspective. Holler and Washington praised her ability to demystify technology for small and medium-sized businesses, likening her to a “technology doctor” for cannabis dispensaries.

Nagib left listeners with a powerful message: “You don’t need to be an expert in everything. Focus on what you do best, and let experts like me help you with the rest.”
