What’s the biggest challenge facing the cannabis industry right now, and how are you and/or your company addressing it?
With the announcement of rescheduling, attracting the right new talent to the industry is paramount. Leading cannabis companies cannot wait for the right candidates to come along and find them. Proactive recruitment and headhunting of key new hires will provide a competitive advantage.
Where do you see the most exciting opportunity for growth and innovation in cannabis?
Rescheduling will free up cash flows and allow cannabis businesses to operate under “normal” conditions. The opportunity to grow retail and wholesale businesses through digital marketing, ecommerce, and paid media is an exciting area of growth and for innovation moving forward.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to break into the cannabis industry?
Be prepared for an uneven playing field.
Be prepared to think outside of just your specific job or responsibility. A team first mentality is important.
Be prepared to work hard for potentially great rewards.
What is the most important thing you have learned from your experiences in the cannabis industry?
Even more resilience. Working with MSOs, small brands, and everyone in between has shown me how tough one needs to be. Every dollar needs to work and deliver back a positive return to the business.
What do you want your legacy to be as it relates to the cannabis industry?
That I am a reliable, smart, and courteous connector of people and businesses, regardless of the outcome for me individually.
