What’s the biggest challenge facing the cannabis industry right now, and how are you and/or your company addressing it?
Education is clearly lacking in the current zeitgeist, so the Ganjier program was created to establish an industry standard. It’s an uphill battle, but I do some consultation and answer questions where I can, as well as sharing more curated content online.
Where do you see the most exciting opportunity for growth and innovation in cannabis?
Honestly, I think the craft and artisanal space has massive potential right now. Whether it’s top shelf flower or a hand made glass accessory, that has some lasting potential. People want products made with care.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to break into the cannabis industry?
You have to be chosen by the plant to serve in this industry, in a way. You have to want it bad enough to make sacrifices. The cost is often personal relationships and opportunities, but the results are invaluable.
What is the most important thing you have learned from your experiences in the cannabis industry?
Your dreams should be big enough to scare you a little bit. There are many people I used to look up to as icons or pioneers that I now genuinely consider friends.
What do you want your legacy to be as it relates to the cannabis industry?
My legacy is irrelevant. I’m here to serve the plant and the community, not make myself wealthy or famous. If only one person learns from me and gets their stuff directly from their farmer or starts growing their own, I’ll view that as a success.
