What’s the biggest challenge facing the cannabis industry right now, and how are you and/or your company addressing it?
The biggest challenge is fragmentation. Everyone’s operating in silos — brands, retailers, and vendors — and that slows down innovation and growth. Most sourcing happens through word-of-mouth or endless cold outreach. We built The Plug Society to fix that. It’s a matchmaking platform that connects vetted vendors to the brands and buyers who actually need them — no noise, no spam, just real deal flow.
Where do you see the most exciting opportunity for growth and innovation in cannabis?
It’s in infrastructure — the tech, services, and systems that power how companies actually operate. Everyone’s focused on products, but the real gold is in solving boring problems like vendor discovery, supply chain gaps, and operational chaos. The companies who build better tools for the B2B side of cannabis are going to win big as the industry matures.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to break into the cannabis industry?
Build relationships before you pitch anything. Cannabis is a small, trust-based ecosystem — if you lead with value and consistency, people will open doors for you. But if you come in transactional, you’ll get shut out fast. Show up, contribute, and listen more than you talk.
What is the most important thing you have learned from your experiences in the cannabis industry?
That community is the currency. Deals don’t just happen because of price or product — they happen because of trust, shared values, and timing. The people who win in this industry are the ones who stay connected, stay authentic, and bring others along for the ride. Service first mentality always wins.
What do you want your legacy to be as it relates to the cannabis industry?
I want to be known as someone who built bridges — who created systems and communities that helped good people grow together. If The Plug Society & Catalyst Collective become the ecosystems where the next generation of iconic cannabis brands found their best partners, then we did our job right.
