What’s the biggest challenge facing the cannabis industry right now, and how are you and/or your company addressing it?
Licensed operators face challenges from both the legacy market, the hemp market, and over regulation. As a small business, we have very little power to change those things. But we can and do focus on growing the best quality cannabis we can and creating amazing products that excite customers. Being able to share our story in a way that connects is empowering and helps normalize conversations about cannabis.
Where do you see the most exciting opportunity for growth and innovation in cannabis?
In mature markets, customers have been trained to be price sensitive. At Alibi, we work on consistent products and an engaging story. I’d love to be at a place where customers come into shops asking for Alibi. Creating a truly excited customer is difficult with the current regulations, but we’ve been fortunate to have built a strong reputation and customers are engaging with our story. here is also the opportunity of new-to-cannabis consumers. There are so many form factors that make cannabis approachable and I’m excited for a day when it is just as common to bring cannabis to a BBQ as it is a case of beer.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone looking to break into the cannabis industry?
A key to success in this industry is to always be learning and humble. Ask questions. Celebrate the plant.
What is the most important thing you have learned from your experiences in the cannabis industry?
I’m continually amazed by the stories people share. Ask someone how they got into cannabis and it invariably starts with a story of a health challenge that cannabis improved. We have so much to learn about the healing power of this plant. Alibi celebrates the adventures that are enhanced with cannabis.
What do you want your legacy to be as it relates to the cannabis industry?
At the end of the day, it’s about the people. Affirming people and enhancing life’s moments is what Alibi is all about. I’m hopeful that sharing my story encourages someone else to try cannabis. What’s your Alibi?
