Hoodie’s NorCal Market Spotlight

Hoodie’s NorCal Market Spotlight

Long before there was a license to apply for, Northern California was well known for producing the most sought-after cannabis in the world. Growers in Humboldt, Mendocino, and Trinity counties, the stretch of hills and redwoods known as the Emerald Triangle, spent decades creating the foundation for the cannabis industry. California was the first state to legalize medical cannabis with Proposition 215 in 1996. Twenty years later, Proposition 64 legalized adult use, and licensed stores began selling to adult customers on January 1, 2018. Almost nine years in, NorCal is still shaping the international cannabis conversation.

This spotlight covers five categories: flower, vapes, pre-rolls, edibles and concentrates. For each one, Hoodie Analytics ranked the 30 fastest-selling brands from January through September 2026. Only brands that averaged at least 15% reach qualified, or 12% for concentrates. Hoodie measures how fast a brand sells once it hits the shelf with sales per $1 million of ACV (All Commodity Volume), a metric that adjusts for store size. This means it accounts for how big and busy each store is; a brand stocked in a few high-traffic shops can stand right next to one spread across the whole region.

Where Is Northern California?

There is no official border, and Californians rarely agree on where the north begins. This spotlight uses the definition that appears most often: the state’s 48 northernmost counties. The line runs along the northern edges of San Luis Obispo, Kern and San Bernardino counties. That puts the Emerald Triangle, the Bay Area, the Central Valley, the Sierra, and Sacramento and Fresno all on the same map. Together, those counties cover close to two-thirds of California’s land and are home to about 16 million people.

How to Read the Charts

Each dot is a brand. Three numbers decide where it lands and how big it is.

tes

Reach (ACV) sets how far right a dot sits. It is the share of the market’s sales that happen in stores carrying the brand, so big, busy stores count more than small, quiet ones.

Sales per $1M sets how high a dot sits. It shows how much of every dollar spent in those stores goes to the brand. Higher means the brand sells faster.

Per SKU sets the size of the dot. It splits that speed across the brand’s products, so a bigger dot means each product pulls more weight.

The Fastest-Selling Flower in NorCal

Two of the hottest flower brands on the shelf only reach a quarter of the market or less. OakFruitLand ranks second at 26% reach, and no flower brand on the chart sells more per product. Burr’s Place comes in fourth from just 16% of the market, with Allswell and Dime Bag right behind it. STIIIZY tops the category and CAM places third. The Emerald Triangle has a strong showing. UpNorth Humboldt is stocked across 57% of the market, and only two flower brands sell more per product. Coastal Sun, Yada Yada, Quiet Kings, West Coast Treez, Glass House Farms and Claybourne Co. fill out the upper half of the list, while Alien Labs, Connected Cannabis Co. and Fig Farms bring some of the widest footprints in the category.

tes

Zoom in on the dashed box, and 18 more brands come into focus, all within about $3,000 of each other in sales per $1M. Pacific Stone and Sticky sit at the top of the group, and Lumpy’s, Green Line, Chico Verde, Seed Junky, Traditional, Big Tree, Micro Greenz, Soma Rosa Farms, Daze Off, and Mr. Zips are in there too. With close to 660 flower brands available in Northern California in September, every name included outran more than 600 other brands.

The Fastest-Selling Vapes in NorCal

Oakland has a winner on the vape chart. Jetty Extracts, founded there in 2013, ranks second in the region. Muha Meds might be the most impressive brand in the category, ranking sixth while stocked in only 20% of the market. Dime Industries and CAKE sit just ahead of it. STIIIZY leads, and Raw Garden is third.

A strong middle tier follows with PlugPlay, Coldfire Extracts, TURN, Dabwoods, Papa’s Herb and West Coast Cure. Heavy Hitters and Jeeter bring some of the widest reach on the chart.

The zoomed-in box sorts out a tight cluster of 16. Micro Bar and Rove sit at the top of it, with Himalaya, The Bloom Brand and Gramlin close behind, and Hit Sluggers sells more per product than anyone else in the group. Halara, PAX, Tempo, Boutiq, Dompen, Kushy Punch, Buddies and Timeless round it out. More than 425 vape brands were on shelves in NorCal in September, putting every name on this chart in rare company.

The Fastest-Selling Pre-Rolls in NorCal

Quiet Kings is the pre-roll brand to watch. It ranks third in the category at 46% reach and also earns a place on the flower chart. Jeeter and STIIIZY hold the top two spots, and King Roll and Hit Sluggers follow Quiet Kings.

Lime reaches the top six from just 23% of the market. Presidential, Claybourne Co., Puff, Birdies, Sparkiez and Pure Beauty form the next tier, with Pure Beauty selling more per product than any brand ranked above it.

tes

In the crowded corner, Almora Farms stands out with the highest sales per product of any pre-roll brand on the chart. It shares that space with 17 others, including Dime Bag, Pacific Stone, Time Machine, Coastal Sun, UpNorth Humboldt, Revelry, Fuzzies, Cizi, Gelato, Explicit and Bangers. Northern Californians have over 500 pre-roll brands to choose from; these are the names they can’t get enough of.

tes

The Fastest-Selling Edibles in NorCal

The edibles chart has a clear overachiever in fourth place. PLUS Products is stocked in just 33% of the market, yet it sells faster than brands with more than twice its reach. Wyld leads the category and is the most widely carried brand on any of the five charts, at 91% reach. Kanha and Camino take second and third. Lost Farm and St. Ides follow in fifth and sixth. Drinks earn a seat at the table, too. Uncle Arnie’s ranks eighth, and Cann and Hi-Fi Sessions both make the list. Froot, Drops, Emerald Sky, Good Tide, Smokiez and Whoa hold the middle ranks.

tes

The 14 brands in the zoomed view include Space Gems, Saida, Manzanita Naturals, Happy Fruit, Highatus, Dr. Norm’s, Punch, Petra and Pabst Blue Ribbon. Big Pete’s earns its spot from Santa Cruz, where a cookie business that began in its founder’s kitchen now bakes up to 30,000 cookies a day. Not Your Father’s leads the group in sales per product. About 270 different edible brands were on NorCal shelves in September; these are the best of the best.

The Fastest-Selling Concentrates in NorCal

Hash and rosin makers have a big presence on the concentrates chart. Have Hash ranks ninth from just 13% of the market, the smallest footprint of any brand across all five charts. Rosin Tech Labs, Nasha and Mountain Man Melts made the list as well. Bear Labs, Punch, Himalaya, Green Line and WVY all land in the top eight, and 710 Labs leads the category ahead of Raw Garden and STIIIZY. Himalaya’s performance deserves recognition. Only 710 Labs sells more per product, and the brand also made the vape chart. Absolute Xtracts pulls off the same double, appearing here and in the edibles zoom. West Coast Cure, Master Makers and Cannabiotix hold steady through the middle of the chart.

tes

Pistil Whip leads the 16-brand cluster and sells the most per product within it. #Hashtag, Sunsmoke, ICED, Creme de Canna, CLSICS, Tutti, Emerald Bay Extracts, Globs and Casual Cannabis Co. round out the group. With more than 380 concentrate brands in the NorCal marketplace, each brand mentioned had plenty of close competition to outrun.

tes

Every chart in this spotlight tells the same story: in Northern California, shoppers have the final say. They can pick from hundreds of brands in every category, and these names are the ones they keep reaching for. West Coast Cure won them over in four categories. Claybourne, Dime Bag, Green Line, Hit Sluggers, Heavy Hitters and Almora Farms did it in three. Have Hash did it from just 13% of the market. The Emerald Triangle put NorCal on the map. These brands are keeping it there. Congratulations to everyone who made the cut.
