The Coachella Valley Cannabis Alliance Network (CVCAN) is pleased to report that the Palm Springs City Council has unanimously approved an Ordinance expanding the City’s regulations to allow the activities outlined in Assembly Bill 1775 for cannabis consumption lounges.
The Ordinance provides that that licensed retailers and microbusinesses may now, among other things, prepare and sell non-cannabis food and beverages on site where cannabis consumption is permitted (subject to certain conditions), arrange for food service delivery, and conduct ticketed and non-ticketed events depending on the size of the lounge.
CVCAN has been meeting with Council Member and lobbying for this Ordinance for some time now. We believe that the consumption lounge is a cornerstone of the Movement and are thrilled that local licensed lounge owners now have the opportunity to create new revenue streams and enhance their business operations. We sincerely thank City Council, and Veronica Goedhart, Director of Special Program Compliance, for hearing us and taking this important step. It should also be noted that the Compliance Department fully supported this important Ordinance.
As mentioned, the Council unanimously approved the introduction for 1 st Reading of the Ordinance on December 10 th . The 2 nd Reading will occur on January 14th and the Ordinance will go into 30 days thereafter.

Ultimately, communication is the key to efficiency, and CVCAN strongly recommends that licensed cannabis lounge owners communicate directly with the City as they move forward with evolutionary lounge concepts. For example, there is an application process that must occur before conducting events and allowing food deliveries. So please reach out to the PS Compliance Department for further information and to ensure your events are successful.
