World Cannabis Tourism Day — September 27, 2025

Since 1979, the United Nations has recognized September 27th as World Tourism Day — a moment to highlight the cultural, social, and economic value of travel. This year, cannabis and hemp officially join in that global celebration.

Tourism has always reflected the interests and experiences of travelers. Today, cannabis and hemp are part of that landscape, legally, in destinations around the world, shaping leisure travel, medical tourism, cultural storytelling, agri-tourism, hospitality, and more. Recognizing this, the Canadian Cannabis Tourism Alliance (CCTA) is stepping forward to ensure that World Tourism Day reflects the full scope of modern travel.

To mark this evolution, the CCTA has launched the Cannabis & Hemp Global Travel Network initiative and will host the inaugural World Cannabis Tourism Day Virtual Summit — an online webinar-style gathering of global leaders, policymakers, wellness practitioners, tourism operators, and entrepreneurs.

Date: Saturday, September 27, 2025
Time: 12:00 PM – 4:20 PM EST
Format: Online

The program will feature keynote presentations and panel discussions with more than 30 participants from over a dozen countries, all exploring the opportunities and responsibilities of integrating cannabis and hemp into the global visitor economy.

By aligning with the United Nations World Tourism Day, the Cannabis Tourism Virtual Summit underscores an essential truth: cannabis and hemp are no longer on the margins of travel. They are part of the fabric of tourism, contributing to sustainability, cultural exchange, and economic growth.

The Canadian Cannabis Tourism Alliance is proud to lead this important step forward.

Register today to join the conversation and be part of this historic moment for global tourism.
