New York has just opened its doors to a new kind of market – the Cannabis Farmers Market. On Wednesday, the Great New York State Cannabis Showcase was launched in Syracuse, just half a mile away from the New York State Fair. The Cannabis Growers Showcase (CGS) is an initiative that was approved this summer by New York’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) as a way for the state’s cannabis farmers and licensed retailers to sell legal cannabis products right to those who will consume them.
The Cannabis Growers Showcase is a landmark program that will run concurrently with the State Fair’s schedule, lasting from now until September 4th. This program provides a platform for cultivators to showcase their products in much the same way as small farmers selling other goods at such a venue. It also provides an opportunity to learn about the cannabis industry and purchase products directly from New York producers.
Notably, this is one area where New York is following suit with California – the California State Fair has hosted a similar showcase, in which it held the first sanctioned cannabis competition last year. The cannabis exhibit was located inside the fair unlike in New York, although cannabis products were not permitted to be sold.
What Is The Cannabis Growers Showcase?
The Cannabis Growers Showcase is an exciting initiative that will allow New Yorkers to purchase cannabis products and learn more about the industry from actual producers. The CGS was approved this summer by the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM), and is a way to bring small farmers into the spotlight at the Great New York State Fair.
The goal of the CGS is to provide a platform for local farmers and licensed retailers and growers to sell their flower and other cannabis products directly to consumers. These CGS events will take place at the Great New York State Fair and across the state, including in Paltz, Brooklyn, Syracuse, Delhi and more. Shuttle services are provided from the State Fair Pink Lot Gate #4 to the Showcase, located at 683 State Fair Boulevard.
The CGS is also an educational platform, providing attendees with the chance to learn more about the burgeoning industry. Through this platform, local producers can showcase their products and explain how they are produced, giving New Yorkers a better understanding of cannabis production in the state.
The Great New York State Cannabis Growers Showcase
The Great New York State Cannabis Growers Showcase offers attendees a unique way to experience cannabis culture and products up-close, featuring cannabis cultivators and processors. Attendees will be able to purchase cannabis-related products, such as edibles, topicals, flower, and more, from a bevy of New York companies. According to a press release from Ravens View Genetics, participating brands will include Ravens View Genetics, Ananda Farms, Chessworth Farms, NY FINCA, B30F, Flamer, Flwr City Collective, Bison Botanics Company, NYHO, and Aryloom.
But of course, with this type of event comes certain legal considerations. So, if you plan to attend the Great New York State Cannabis Growers Showcase, make sure that you are 21 or older and have a valid ID ready. Additionally, there is no smoking or vaping permitted at the State Fair premises – so please keep this in mind when sampling products from vendors at the Showcase.
The Great New York State Cannabis Growers Showcase runs 10AM-9PM daily at 683 State Fair Boulevard in Syracuse, NY now through September 4, 2023.
