Marijuana Washes Up On North Florida Shoreline

On Saturday morning, beachgoers in Neptune Beach had an unexpected visitor on their shoreline – a large amount of marijuana.

According to the Neptune Beach Police Department, the marijuana washed up from the ocean near Florida Boulevard, prompting beach-goers to take notice and contact local authorities.

Police believe it was likely in a bag that broke open at sea and separated before coming ashore. Beach-goers were surprised to see the marijuana; some even picked it up and took a whiff for validation.

When beachgoers noticed the marijuana on the shoreline, they quickly called the Neptune Beach Police Department. The officers were quick to respond and began working with Public Works to clean up the marijuana off the beach.

The police department released an official statement on the discovery: “Before anyone starts thinking about coming out and turning this discovery into your own treasure hunt, we would advise against it. After floating in the ocean for some time, the marijuana has quickly begun to degrade and rot.”

As news of the marijuana quickly spread, beachgoers began to give their reactions and opinions on the matter. The scene surprised Suzanna Joseph, saying, “It’s crazy. I’m surprised there wasn’t a bunch of hippies on the beach.” When asked about his reaction, Brandon Bowman said, “There was a couple of cop cars down here parked on the street, just parked down there, I guess picking up nugs of weed that washed up from the water.”

One woman even went so far as to suggest that the marijuana could be laced with fentanyl, saying, “You can’t tell these days what’s in it, and if they get it now of days, they lace it with fentanyl.”

However, suggesting weed being laced with fentanyl, let alone weed that was in the ocean for some time, is ridiculous on many different fronts and shows the need for more cannabis information.

Beachgoers were amused by the scene, with some joking that it looked like a scene from a TV show.

Bryan Crews also commented on the scene, saying, “I don’t know from personal experience, but watching shows, if you put it all together, it probably would’ve been five or ten pounds.”
